Terms of Service

Version 2.0 — effective 20 September 2026. This document replaces version 3.5 of the CodexBoxEngine protocol terms (June 2025). The French version prevails in case of discrepancy.

The essentials, in five points

1. Scope and acceptance

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the CodexBox mobile application (identifier com.ecoprint.codexbox, distributed on Google Play), the codex-box.org website and related services (together, the “Service”), published by Eco-Print & Cash (“we”, “the Publisher”).

When you create an account, you tick the box accepting these Terms and the Privacy Policy. This acceptance is recorded at account creation. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract in your country of residence.

2. What CodexBox is — and is not

2.1 Non-custodial software

CodexBox is a software interface that lets you hold and use digital assets (stablecoins such as cUSD, USDC, USDT, EURe) on public networks (Celo, Gnosis). Your private key and 12-word recovery phrase are generated and encrypted on your device. The Publisher never receives them and cannot sign any operation on your behalf.

2.2 Neither a bank nor a payment institution

The Publisher is not a bank, a payment or e-money institution, or a custodian. Regulated services are provided by the partners identified in section 6, under their own terms and their own identity-verification obligations.

2.3 The technical role of our servers

Our servers (the “Relayer”) pay network fees for certain operations, forward your signed transactions, coordinate the P2P market and communicate with our partners. While a bank withdrawal is being executed, your tokens may pass for a few moments through a technical address of the Publisher, strictly within the amount you signed, with automatic refund on failure. Outside these execution windows, the Publisher holds no funds belonging to you.

3. Account and security

4. Transfers and offline mode

Irreversibility. A transaction broadcast on a public network cannot be cancelled or refunded by the Publisher. Check the recipient and amount before confirming. The app warns you when you send funds to a recipient for the first time; that warning does not replace your own care.

Offline mode. Without connectivity, your transactions are signed and stored locally, then broadcast automatically when the network returns. Until a transaction is broadcast it has not happened; uninstalling the app or clearing its data before broadcast cancels it with no recourse.

Network fees. For supported operations, the Publisher pays network fees on your behalf. This gives it no rights over your funds and may be suspended in case of abuse.

5. P2P market with escrow

The P2P market lets you exchange stablecoins for local currency (Mobile Money, bank transfer, cash…) with other users. The Publisher is not a party to these exchanges; it provides the escrow contract and the arbitration service.

6. Services provided by partners

6.1 Euro account and SEPA transfers — Monerium

The dedicated IBAN in your name and the EURe e-money are provided by Monerium ehf, an e-money institution licensed in the European Economic Area. To activate it you must accept Monerium's terms and pass its identity verification. Incoming transfers are converted to EURe on your address; withdrawals convert your stablecoins and then trigger a SEPA transfer to the IBAN you specify.

A withdrawal is routed through third-party conversion services. The amount displayed before confirmation is a guaranteed minimum: you will receive at least that amount, or the operation is not started. Fees and exchange spread are included in that figure. Timing depends on the networks and on the SEPA system.

6.2 Buying with Mobile Money or card — Fonbnk, MoonPay, TransFi

Stablecoin purchases are executed by these partners, who apply their own terms, fees, limits and identity checks (KYC). CodexBox forwards your identity file to the relevant partner without keeping it. The amount actually received may differ from the amount requested depending on the partner's and the operator's rules; it is credited as received.

6.3 Public networks and smart contracts

The Celo and Gnosis networks, the stablecoins and the conversion services are operated by independent third parties. The Publisher controls neither their availability, nor their fees, nor the value of the assets.

7. On-device features: budget, SMS, contacts, camera

8. Prohibited uses

You agree not to use the Service to: launder money or finance illegal activities; circumvent sanctions; impersonate a third party or an operator (fake SMS, fake proof of payment); manipulate the P2P market or reputation; attempt to access our systems or our partners' systems without authorisation; automate use of the Service without written agreement; or engage in any activity contrary to the laws that apply to you.

9. Risks

You acknowledge that: the value of digital assets may vary, including stablecoins; networks and smart contracts may suffer outages, congestion or vulnerabilities; partners may suspend or refuse a service; losing your recovery phrase means permanently losing your funds; P2P trades carry counterparty risk. You use the Service with knowledge of these risks.

10. Liability

The Service is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, the Publisher does not guarantee uninterrupted availability and is not liable for: losses due to the loss or theft of your keys, password or device; the acts of other users; the services, fees, delays or refusals of partners and networks; changes in asset value; indirect damages. Where the Publisher is liable, its liability is limited to the fees you actually paid to it during the twelve months preceding the event. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Suspension and termination

The Publisher may suspend or close access to the services it operates (account, P2P market, relaying, partner services) in case of breach of these Terms, suspected fraud, legal requirement or security risk. You may stop using the Service at any time. In all cases your assets remain on-chain, accessible with your recovery phrase from any compatible wallet: closing a CodexBox account never deprives you of your funds.

12. Intellectual property

The app, the website, the trademarks and the CodexBox content are protected. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right of use. Smart contracts published on public networks and the open-source libraries used remain subject to their respective licences.

13. Personal data

The processing of your data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

14. Changes

We may amend these Terms. The version in force and its date appear at the top of this document. Any material change is announced in the app and requires renewed acceptance before you continue using the affected services.

15. Governing law and disputes

Before any legal action, contact us at contact@codex-box.org: we first seek an amicable solution. Failing that, these Terms are governed by the law of the country where the Publisher has its registered office, as stated in the legal notice, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules in your country of residence.
